H'raaka Koth

Miqo'te Warrior of the H Tribe

"I have no fear of man or beast"

Hooks

Test your might
H’raaka is always interested in testing her battle prowess and will eagerly accept any challenge issued to her.
To be or not to be
That is the question (or so says a famous play she’s seen). H’raaka is a big fan of the theatrical arts. During some of her free time, she likes to visit Mih Khetto’s Amphitheatre in Gridania. She enjoys watching plays and discussing them with others.
Illiteracy
H’raaka ignored her mother’s advice of learning her letters and getting an education outside of punching and chopping, and instead doubled down on her training. Suffice it to say she struggles to understand anything written. She much prefers pictures

Bio (spoilers)

H'raaka Koth was born daughter of H’Koth Nhun of the H tribe and H’raasa, a dancer from Thavnair. She was born as the middle child with two other full blooded siblings; her older brother H’raksa, and her younger sister H’raika. She and some of her many other halfblooded siblings were trained in the warrior arts at a young age by their father; knowledge that he came to possess during his time with a hellsguard tribe in the Abalathian Spine.H’raaka trained for years under her father’s guidance. This art, this warrior’s path, felt like something she was born to do, and so she dedicated any time she could into further strengthening herself; Time that wasn’t spent participating in hunting parties, or doing other tribal duties, was spent training her stamina, strength and flexibility. She even neglected the letter learning and book studies that her mother wanted for all her children, finding it a waste of time when she could be learning something ‘more useful’.After she and some of her siblings managed to complete all three previous warrior trials; the Trial of the Wolf; the Trial of the Bear; and the Trial of the Gigantoad, the final trial was at hand, the Trial of Perseverance, also known as the Trial of Man. This final warrior trial would decide which of H’koth’s disciples would claim his soul stone. This stone was said to house the memories of countless warriors who had wielded it previously; their movements, their techniques, all for the wielder to utilize. The stone would turn maybe even decade’s worth of training and study into instant, applicable knowledge. The stone would only choose the worthiest among them to share its secrets and the Trial of Man was meant for that purpose; to have only the mightiest and most durable of the candidates be left standing. After much brutal and strenuous combat, H’raaka was declared the victor; she would be the one to inherit her father’s warrior soul stone. The sahagin had attacked the tribe twice; the first was when they had somehow heard tell that the island where the H tribe resided had a sizable deposit of crystals…crystals they wished to use to summon their twisted sea god. The sahagin attacked en masse, storming the Miqo’te’s home. In the conflict, the enemy had managed to secure a large quantity of crystals while the rest of the miqo’te were doing their best to fight off the surprise attack. The tribe’s leader, the Nhun, was on their beach acting as vanguard of their defensive forces. The sahagin would try and pour through a chokehold, and only visible entrance, near the beach of the island, wanting to reach inland; there the beastman found a lone warrior waiting for them, the Nhun of the island. H’koth fought off seemingly endless waves of these fishlike creatures, even while some began climbing the nearby stone and dropping in behind him. His disciples… his children, acted as a second line of defense, deeper into the woods of the island, killing all who managed to slip past their father. Sadly, their numbers were too numerous and they had managed to subdue H’koth Nhun and dragged him out to sea. The beastmen retreated soon after, having gotten what they were looking for…and a little something more.H’raaka and her warrior brothers and sisters searched tirelessly for their father, for their leader. They searched the beach and even beneath the waves where it was still visible enough to see, but they saw no sign of him…the only clue that he had been there were the cleaved and mangled sahagin corpses spread across their sandy shores. Yet, their children remained hopeful. They saw H’koth as their ultimate protector, a savage force that would keep them safe from any who would dare harm their home. He had likely followed the beastmen to their home, they all thought; thinking that their Nhun had gone to end the sahagin’s entire race for what they had done. H’raaka and the others would keep their village safe until their father returned to them.It wasn’t long after the first raid, when the people of the island heard the news from worried sailors that the seas were no longer safe; that the sahagin’s god, Leviathan, now roamed the depths…protecting it’s ‘children’. The H tribe prepared for the worst; their leader was still missing and now the beastmen had a primal on their side. The warriors of the tribe assumed that now that the sahagin felt empowered by the arrival of their deity that maybe they’d try and get revenge on they who spilled much of their blood…the tribe did what they could to set up defenses in case their assumption proved to be true. The second raid was a bloody event. Though their primal had not accompanied them, the sahagin who had survived their first assault had learned a bit more about the layout of the island, making their second attack more prepared and more tactical than the first…back when they thought to underestimate the warriors of the H tribe. Were it not for the tribe’s defensive measures and battle formations, many more lives would have been lost that day.The sahagin were relentless, coming in numbers equal or greater than their first assault, though they were not being bottlenecked at the beach like before…no, they had found other ways to reach inland. The fish-like creatures would now try to attack the tribal grounds from multiple angles simultaneously, hoping to wipe of the miqo’te that lived there. The miqo’te meanwhile formed a defensive perimeter around their home, spreading out their most capable fighters so that no area was left weaker than the other. It was not long before the fighting began when a very familiar beastly roar was heard plain near one of the island’s beaches, the one where her father had held the line during the first raid. H’raaka’s and many other’s ears shot up as they immediately recognized who it belonged to. Hope was felt throughout the hearts of the Miqo’te present as their leader’s battle cry resonated. H’raaka, being the second strongest next to their leader, and now wielder of the warrior soul stone, was quickly tasked with aiding their Nhun in cleansing the Island of these aquatic foes. The warrior sprinted towards the sound while the rest of her siblings maintained their defensive perimeter around the tribe’s grounds.H’raaka raced through the woods, cleaving into any sahagin that she encountered with her mighty Foolkiller axe, a gift she had been given by her father after passing the final warrior trial. H’raaka’s glee at the sight of a very familiar miqo’te in the distance soon changed to confusion; the sahagin seemed to be ignoring him as they rushed inland, and her father seemed to be ignoring them as well, something was clearly not right.H’raaka tried to communicate with her father, trying to find within him the loving man she once knew, but it was to no avail. The older warrior just stared at her, eyes ablaze with crimson hate, eyes that were meant for their enemies, but never for her or their kin.
H’koth only told her daughter to either die with the tribe or to join him …that mayhap Lord Leviathan would have use for one of her power.
The younger warrior’s heart broke at the thought that either her father was dead and some unholy creature had dared to assume his form and memories, or that this was indeed her father, alive but certainly not well; his mind maybe irreversibly warped by some manner of strange magick. H’raaka raised her Foolkiller axe and pointed it at the threat that was approaching. With tears in her she ordered a ‘drowned’ H’koth to turn back, to leave and never return... that there would be no second chance. The other man only chuckled as he drew his own axe. “I’ve raised n’trained you since you were just a babe, w’chance de ye ave ‘gainst yer ol man.”The fight between father and daughter was brutal and took its toll on their surroundings; fallen trees and debris from crushed stone serving as evidence of what had happened that day. It took all of H’raaka’s many years of training to even be able to stand a chance against the Nhun; she had to utilize the strength and weapon technique’s she had learned from her father, the dancer’s grace and agility she had learned from her mother, and her inner beast in tandem…just for a fighting chance. Unbeknownst to her, H’koth was also fighting internally as well; moving just a bit to be off center, leaning in just slightly so that the blade would graze him, anything to give H’raaka just the slightest edge over him. It was H’raaka managing to dig Foolkiller’s hooked blade straight through H’koth’s abdomen that spelled the end of the fight.Though H’raaka loved battle, there was no joy in this. Her blade would forever be tainted with the blood of her own kin, a weight she would have to carry for the good of her tribe; She did what was necessary, what her father would have wanted…those are the thoughts that serve to keep her mind together, to stop herself from crumbling at the seams. The older Miqo’te’s eyes reverted back to their bluish silver hue, they stared at their child with a gaze that tried to speak when their mouth failed to do so, as if they had so much to say but no time to say it. The tribe’s leader passed away silently not moments after. Shortly after the N’hun’s eyes closed for the final time, H’raaka’s soul stone began to glow a bright ruby color but the last warrior standing payed it no mind…in fact she didn’t even notice for she has something else occupying her thoughts. As she kneels beside her H’koth Nhun’s lifeless body, she feels an anger she had never felt before, so much that she feels she could drown in it. The sahagin had taken one of the most important people in her life and warped him into something that should not be…a crime she would never forgive. She would hunt down any and all associated with that gods damned primal and all its gods damned followers, even should it come at the price of her life. With eyes glowing the color of blood, she roars out all that she feels; the anguish, the pain, the hate, the fury. The bloodcurdling primal scream reverberated across the land the H tribe called home… and for a few moments the island stood still. The sounds chilled the bones of all who had the misfortune of listening. For a brief moment the H tribe and the sahagin invaders were of one mind, sharing one thought; that whatever was in those woods sought one thing, Death. Even through their tempering, deep down inside the beastmen felt a primal fear…knowing that if they stayed for a moment longer, whatever was in those woods would come for them. The beastmen who were lucky managed to reach the shores and throw themselves into the sea, those who were not as fortunate encountered what they perceived to be a dog unchained, released from the deepest pits of hell to drag their souls into the fiery depths. When the ‘dog’ had found no more enemies left to slay, she would return to where her father was, to where she had left him.H’raaka’s siblings found their sister weeping over a very familiar body, and her bloody axe at her side. All present had agreed to remember their father as the man he was, and not what Leviathan had turned him into. The body was carried to the tribal grounds, where the rest of the tribe saw in horror the fate that ultimately befell their beloved Nhun. He and the rest of the dead were given proper burials on the island. For H’koth, a rock was placed atop where his body rested with his axe embedded onto the stone; it served as a small monument to their fallen warrior. The death of the H’Koth and many others left a power vacuum within the tribe. Some of H’raaka’s brothers fought amongst themselves to see who was more worthy of their late father’s title; Tias from other regions arriving to the damaged tribe, hoping to easily become Nhun of whoever was left. H’raaka didn’t want to deal with all the politics and infighting, so she left, informing only her mother and her two full-blooded siblings. After leaving her tribe she now roams the land with her axe on her back, searching to pit her strength against the most mighty of opponents. She was raised as a warrior, she will live as such and eventually die as one, she thinks. Such was her father’s way, and now, it is her way as well.

Bio summary

H'raaka Koth was born daughter of Koth Nhun of the H tribe. She and some of her siblings were trained in the warrior arts at a young age by their father; knowledge that he came to possess during his time with a hellsguard tribe in the Abalathian Spine. After leaving her tribe, she set out to find her purpose, keeping her father’s teachings close to heart.

Personality

H’raaka firmly believes that might makes right, that the strong take and weak get taken from, that they who are mighty can do as they please while the weak have to simply adapt to their circumstances. This is one of the reasons H’raaka strives for strength; so if the time comes where others would seek to take from her, they would see the folly of such actions. The warrior is easily provoked, but her anger can fade just as quickly after the matter is settled. There are few things that the warrior holds a genuine grudge over; matters where she feels that she had been wronged and that the imbalance had not yet been corrected. She will pursue matters and even people with unrelenting determination when she feels that there is a debt that is owed for a wrongdoing she, or those she cares for, has suffered.H’raaka can be a brutish, prideful and excitable miqo’te in battle. She enjoys the rush of combat and giving it her all against worthy foes, readily accepting any challenge issued to her; eager to have an excuse to let her inner beast run wild.H’raaka’s beast is more assertive and demanding than how her other half usually is. It is H’raaka at her most primitive, and her most base. It is not above using violence to get its way and certainly enjoys employing it against the strong. The beast is H’raaka’s rage, strength and inner desires given form and It is only through H’raaka’s training, will and acceptance of herself that her and her beast are able to work so well together.
